The Santa Barbara Mission (founded December 4, 1786) has a distinctive architectural look compared to other coastal missions in terms of front corner wall exterior arch supports though not visible in this image. This mission has been referred to the "Queen of the Missions" and is well known for its imposing facade that blends Roman and Mission architectural styles suffered heavy earthquake damage in 1925 and the front towers have been rebuilt. Anza encountered many Chumash Indian pueblos in this area.
