Indigenous petroglyphs on the landscape in southwest Arizona.

Indigenous people left a vision of themselves and their sense of place with petroglyphs on the arid landscape. Photographed in 1993, this site on Antelope Hill, called Santa Ciecilia by the Spanish, was a Quechan rock quarry for metates (grinding stone). The site has since been destroyed by a rock quarrying project undertaken by the Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District.
